How to choose an email marketing platform

Most email tools look similar on a features page. The differences that matter show up later: what you pay once your list doubles, how far automation can go before you hit a plan limit, and how painful it is to leave.

1

Pricing model

Most tools bill by contacts or subscribers; some also cap monthly sends. Check whether unsubscribed or duplicate contacts count toward your bill.

2

Automation depth

A welcome series is easy everywhere. Branching on behavior, tags and store events is where plans and platforms diverge.

3

Ecommerce features

If you sell online, look for abandoned-cart flows, product recommendations and native store integrations.

4

Deliverability controls

Domain authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) is a must. Dedicated IPs matter mainly for high-volume senders.

5

Landing pages & extras

Built-in landing pages, webinars or courses can replace separate tools, but only if you’ll actually use them.

6

Migration support

Some vendors will move contacts, templates and automations for you. That can save days of rebuilding.

Testing a switch?

GetResponse has a free plan for up to 500 contacts and 14 days of premium features, no credit card required.
